'Saayid Hanafee' in downtown Cairo is recommended by egyptians if you want real egyptian food- called 'kosheree'. Its always busy and very cheap, around £3.00 for two meals.
"Hind" is also famous for typical egyptian food called Kushari and they have branches all over Cairo. There is also Shabrawy, being famous for "Fool and Falafel" which is another typical egyptian food.

Otherwise you get all kind of fast food chains like KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut etc. as well as classy restaurants with italian food and others e.g. La Casetta.

I personally prefer Chilli's which is a bit expensive but for us ladies, we pay only half price from Saturday-Wednesday from 12pm-2pm!!!
Beladina - opposite pizza hut on Mustafa An Nahas street. They do the best pizzas' and kosheri. Very cheap!  If you go to El Rehab food court they have all the typical western labels, Hardy's, KFC, Costa and Cinnabon, but there's a variety of lebanese, argentinian and egyptian restaurants there too. Nice place to meet friends and chill out.
